Maybe this is off topic, and delete if an XML Standard for the Indexing of Text and Binary Documents is not of interest to you. I am a member of the AIIM Standards board which is the ANSI/ISO designated organization for developing all standards relating to imaging and document management. We are considering organizing a ISO standards committee to create an XML-based schema for the interchange of files and their indexes. This is not a transaction EDI standard, although it could be used to attach documents to an XML/EDI stream, referencing the transaction. The problem we are trying to solve is the interchange of document files and their indexes between scanning systems, workflow systems, imaging systems, and content management systems. Anybody on this list have any input to this effort?
