Dear colleagues,
The UK W3C Office acting through the Information Technology Department of
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Kin's College London are leading a
proposed Faraday Partnership in Trusted e-Services, which has already been
short-listed by the sponsoring bodies. We are currently looking to expand
the partnership with new members in the UK.
The Partnership already brings together globally linked technology providers
and users, a few active UK SMEs, top-ranked Universities and leaders in
e-Education and e-Science. We welcome industrial advisory bodies,
e-businesses, e-service providers and other organisations, which are
interested in supporting the Partnership. We are particularly interested in
UK SMEs.
The Partnership will foster R&D collaborations in a cross-sector Research
Programme that is focused on application needs as well as research
excellence, and is measured by its benefit to industry. The Partnership will
also deliver training, knowledge transfer and recruitment opportunities for
trained researchers.
The partnership is seeking support from the DTI and EPSRC for funds to be
set aside for its first four years. In the longer term, the business plan
anticipates financial independence.
Please find attached an invitation letter. Further information is available
at http://www.w3c.rl.ac.uk/etrust. Please do not hesitate to discuss this
further with me or to directly contact the co-ordinator Dr. Stuart Robinson,
W3C UK Office Manager, at mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (phone 01235
445119).
Best Regards,
Theo Dimitrakos
