XML Global Launches GoXML(tm) DB 2.0 - First Native XML Database Supporting
XQuery
Vancouver, BC, November 27th, 2001 - XML Global Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB:
XMLG), an XML middleware company, today released GoXML(tm) DB 2.0, a Native
XML Database Server. GoXML(tm) DB 2.0 is the first native XML database
technology that provides significant support for the current working drafts
of XQuery, an XML-based querying standard under development at the World
Wide Web Consortium (W3C). GoXML(tm) DB 2.0 is focused on the rapidly
expanding market for XML data storage and directly addresses this global
e-business requirement.
"XML databases are emerging as a key component that will enable Web Services
and the dynamic use of content for pervasive e-Business," said Peter
Shandro, CEO of XML Global. "GoXML(tm) DB processes data natively in XML and
is therefore the optimal data store for enterprise business applications.
GoXML(tm) DB also supports the XQuery working drafts," continued Shandro,
"one the most advanced data querying languages currently being developed.
This is a major step forward for XML databases and we are proud to be the
first to incorporate this support."
"HomeSource Capital, as one of the largest mortgage specialists in North
America, is committed to expanding its leadership position," said Erskin
Bell, CIO of HomeSource Capital. "To meet this objective, native XML
database technology is a top priority. After examining the market,
HomeSource Capital concluded that GoXML(tm) DB 2.0 offers the efficiencies,
scalability and flexibility needed to maintain our growth without
compromising the needs of our clients and lending partners."
"We are pleased with this significant new release of GoXML(tm) DB 2.0 and
its support for XQuery," said Jim Dorey, XML Global's product manager for
GoXML(tm) DB. "When all the larger firms, including Microsoft, Sun and IBM
are in a footrace to implant XQuery, it is a source of great professional
pride to be the first company to offer this solution. XML Global is
committed to XQuery and will support future versions as they become
available."
"After extensive lab testing, we were consistently impressed with how
GoXML(tm) DB could construct and reconstruct XML documents on the fly
through XQuery support," said Lawell Kiing, XML Global's Vice President of
Software Development & Services. "This product fills a real market need
where developers and business analysts can not only manipulate XML in the
same way they can relational data, but more importantly, they can now
perform additional critical tasks such as data transformations."
GoXML(tm) DB is a part of the GoXML(tm) family of products, which are
focused on the controlled adoption of XML-based solutions. GoXML(tm) DB 2.0
is a robust solution for today's e-business needs with the flexibility to
meet future challenges. New features include:
