An insightful article that begs some bigger questions, so I'll ask them! http://www.webservices.org/index.php/article/articleview/826/1/7/
2003 looks like this stuff will get much worse before it gets better. The ray of hope is the joint liaison work between W3C/OASIS/CEFACT. If this can grow into a strong and clear vision from the senior executives involved (I think the will is there, but now the chemistry has to develop) - then we can instill sanity into this whole turbulent arena - by producing a joint architecture approach. Another factor is market pressure. It does not take a genius to figure out that ebXML messaging services (ebMS) provides proven solid terrain for people to build from. Accelerating adoption will cause the hold-out players to start to realize they need to make a single consistent offering. Similarly - I foresee that ebMS will provide adaptor interfaces to AS/2 and also WSDL - allowing an ebMS server to act as an integration hub across these. In the meantime of course we have to work the 'normal' standards arena to ensure that 'open and public' are the key factors. Looking forward to an interesting 2003. Best wishes to everyone, DW. >>>>>>>>>>>> Web services standards are good, but a Web services vision is better Alan Kotok, WebServices.Org The industry needs a common vision for Web services, and it needs it now for many reasons, but for starters, the customers want it. http://www.webservices.org/index.php/article/articleview/826/1/7/ < --- You are currently subscribed to xmledi-group as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
