Well, I agree with you that XXE does not look very good on Windows.
However it looks good on Linux using Java 1.5 (default) Metal Ocean L&F
and it looks OK on the Mac. (XXE is horrible/unusable using the emulated
Motif and GTK L&Fs.)

We knew about JGoodies and we have already tested it. Unfortunately,
using this L&F causes XXE to throw an exception during its startup.
