I would like to separate the terms from their definitions when printing
DocBook variablelists. In order to do that, I've set the value of
attribute "termlength" to "0".

When I do this, the PS/PDF formatter included in your Professional
Edition happens to loop forever.

We do not include *any* XSL-FO formatter in our Professional Edition.

Here's an excerpt of http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/plugins.shtml:
---
Disclaimer: except for the XFC, APT and Javadoc[TM] plug-ins for XML
Editor which are entirely the work of XMLmind (therefore these plug-ins
are professionally supported by us), XMLmind has created all the other
plug-ins (Batik, Jimi, FOP, XEP) in the hope they are useful, but makes
no claim about their quality or their usefulness. It is important to
understand that XMLmind is just responsible of the integration of these
third party tools in XML Editor (a very thin layer indeed) and that
these plug-ins should not be considered as being part of our product.

Funny isn't it?

It depends on your sense of humor.

PS: If you *always* want to see variablelists formatted like above, I
would suggest to change a parameter in the DocBook XSL style sheets.
This parameter is "variablelist.as.blocks" and it must be set to value
"1". See
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/docbook_xsl/doc/fo/variablelist.as.blocks.html

Personally, I've added these specifications to my
~/.xxe/addon/customize.xxe to achieve this:

---
  <parameterGroup name="docb.toPS.transformParameters">
    <parameter name="variablelist.as.blocks">1</parameter>
  </parameterGroup>

  <parameterGroup name="docb.toRTF.transformParameters">
    <parameterGroup name="docb.toPS.transformParameters"/>
  </parameterGroup>
---

I've attached a ready-to-use customize.xxe to this email.

-----
PS 2: Render XEP does *not* loop forever when termlength="0". However,
the DocBook XSL style sheets does not seem to properly support
termlength="0" and therefore, the resulting PDF is very ugly.

(But everything works fine with variablelist.as.blocks=1)
