I've tested this on XXE V2.11/Java 1.5.0_04/SuSE 9.3/Gnome 2.10. The problem comes from 2 facts: * XXE does not properly implement MDI window (and will never do: we are working on V3 which will definitely get rid of the MDI window). * On the above platform, the default look and feel is GTK which is *incredibly ugly* when emulated by Java and which has this window list at the bottom of the MDI window. We strongly recommend to use Options|Options, General section and choose "Metal" from the "Style" combobox. (Then you'll have to restart XXE.) --- PS: Next version will use by default the Metal Ocean L&F on all unices except MacOSX.
