If you are talking about developing and using format plug-ins, the answer is no. You can do that with free Standard Edition. For this need, the only difference between SE and PE is: * With PE, you'll have access to the source code of the product. * With PE, you can ask us questions about programming XXE. If you have a good Java programmer, given the fact that writing a format plug-in is simple and decently documented, the above advantages of PE are probably not useful.
