This is a current limitation of XFC. Double-sided layouts will be supported 
in version 1.3 (to be released in a couple of days).

Yes, by default FOP only supports the 14 base fonts defined in the PDF 
specification: Times (normal, bold, italic, bold italic), Courier (normal, 
bold, italic, bold italic), Symbol and ZapfDingbats.
