XXE can be used to edit documents stored on an FTP or WebDAV server (Basic and Digest authentication schemes are supported). There are no special commands for doing that, just use File|Open, File|Save [Professional Edition only] and File|Save As [Professional Edition only]. An advanced file chooser dialog box may be used to browse and select files on an FTP or WebDAV server or on the local file system. In the case of a WebDAV server, this dialog box also allows to see which files are locked and who is locking them. Support of WebDAV has been tested with: * Apache HTTP server 2.0.44. * Apache HTTP server 1.3.19 + mod_dav 1.0.2. * Windows 2003 server IIS HTTP server + its WebDAV extension. Severe problems have already been reported with CMS (other than Plone which has never been tested) using WebDAV as their protocol for publishing documents. Therefore, I think that the answer to your question is: no.
