It occurs on two machines with similar setups:
* Windows XP Professional with all windows updates applied
* J2RE Standard, 1.4.2_03; Default VM Version 1.4.2_03-b02
* XXE Standard 2.5p1

As for being maximized, that doesn't seem to make a difference. It did prompt
me to try one other thing. It seems that the problem only occurs when
switching between XXE and my SSH client, PuTTY 0.53b
(http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/).

I'm not sure what Putty does that makes XXE respond differently, but that
seems to be the link (specifically, I have to have clicked in the terminal
area as I would to copy and paste). Of course, I'm writing a book/howto that
requires me to regularly copy and paste information from PuTTY into XXE. I
haven't had a chance to try another SSH client with it.
