You don't need to do this.

I've upgraded my Mac to MacOS X 10.2.8 and I use the latest Java updates
from Apple.

I downloaded xxe-std-24p1.dmg (title bar should display Patch 2) from
our (alternate, slow, xmlmind.com) site and installed it. Everything
worked fine.

I deleted ~/.xxe,
~/Library/Preferences/com.xmlmind.xmleditapp.app.App.plist, etc, and was
able to start XXE again by double-clicking on the XMLEditor icon.

This means that the Java part of the XXE distribution is OK.

Sorry but I cannot help you because I was not able to reproduce the
nasty behavior you had. May be other Mac users can give us their
feedback about similar problems.
