This is a known problem which is very annoying.
I don't have it on Linux Java 1.4.1_01.
I have it on Windows (only when a dialog box is displayed by command?).
We have not yet found a workaround for what seems to be a Java bug.
Note that Esc-Ctrl+e will not insert a 'e'. Yes Esc-Ctrl+e is ugly, hard
to type, and hard to remember.
