I use the collapsible elements functionality in a different way, which sidesteps this problem. If you use the collapse functionality to make an outline displayed in a separate window (using a separate .CSS file), you can display this window alongside your main window and use it as a navigation aid. When you click on a heading in the outline, it's selected in your main window as well, which scrolls to the selected point. Since nothing is ever collapsed in the main window, you can always see what gets selected by the search function.
There are some usability problems with this approach (you have to open and arrange both windows before you start work on a document, and the windows don't "belong" together, which can cause problems if you edit several documents at once), but Hussein has indicated that enhancements which will help with these problems may be included in the not too distant future. -----Original Message----- From: Hussein Shafie [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 21. februar 2003 10:28 To: Sylvain Tertois Cc: xmleditor-support at xmlmind.com Subject: Re: [XXE] search and collapsible sections Sylvain Tertois wrote: > > I really like the collapsible sections in XXE 2.1, but there is a missing > feature I think. > I changed the docbook css so that the sections are collapsed by default. Yes this is really the problem with collapsed sections and I'm afraid that it is not easy to solve (because of the way XXE is implemented). Therefore we cannot ensure that this problem will be solved in the short term. -- XMLmind XML Editor Support List xmleditor-support at xmlmind.com http://www.xmlmind.com/mailman/listinfo/xmleditor-support
