There is a icon which shows the validity status of the saved document
(but I'm sure you already knew that).

We have chosen not to force the display of the Validity tab after an
automatic validity check (having found errors) because doing so would
have been intrusive for most users (well, we think so).

I think that making this intrusive behavior an option should be a good
solution. You'll probably have it for v20final.
