On my ThinkPad T21with W2K in 16bit mode, the background color in the empty
reading pane and for highlighted text in the help system is a dark blue, so
dark that any black text in it is almost unreadable. In the editor online
help, search for a common word. When you go to a page containing that
word, the system highlighting applied to that word in context is the same
dark blue color on my screen as the empty editor background. Using a
32-bit display at home turns the empty editor pane, at least, to a more
pleasing light brown. That's why I suspect its a color depth related
issue. A browser-safe color might be a good choice--hopefully it would
stay true for a wider range of display capabilities.
