The OASIS DITA document types are implemented with a set of DTD modules OR with a set of W3C XML Schema modules. XMLmind XML Editor has no technical problems at dealing with the DITA schema. In fact the very first version of the DITA add-on came in two flavors: DTD-based and Schema-based. We dropped the Schema-based DITA add-on to reduce the maintenance cost of the add-on. We plan (don't hold your breath, this will take months): * To get rid of the DITA OpenToolkit, which, in our opinion, does not generate production quality PDF, HTML, RTF, CHM, etc (and which cannot be deployed using Java Web Start because it is file-based rather than URL-based). * Once this is done: we'll bundle DITA support with XMLmind XML Editor just like what we did for DocBook and XHTML. * When DITA support will be bundled with XMLmind XML Editor, we'll support both the DITA DTD and the DITA schema. Moreover, we'll write a comprehensive tutorial explaining how to specialize the DTD/Schema in the context of XMLmind XML Editor. --- PS: Your question is of general interest. I've rerouted it to xmleditor-support.
