There is no clean, simple, way to solve this problem.

If Ctrl-J works, this means that any menu shortcut will work too, unless 
overriden by the control itself (like Ctrl-H).

Therefore, try to add menu items having shortcuts for your macros in the 
configuration-specific menu (the ``XML'' menu). See
