BTW, this is clearly an use-case of multiple independent views, that is also a missing feature. I'm sure you know that; it should be like the "New window" command in MS Word and most other word processors. I regularly use that for editing documentations in Word. Another issue regarding navigation is that there is no true back/forward functionality like Alt+Left and Alt+Right is in Web browsers. Once I have noted that regarding following links: if the linked thing is referenced from multiple places, and you follow the link, the back button will not (always) go back to the place where you came from.
