1. clicking on Validate with a brand-new file gives the error message; reasonable, as there is no default/auto-generated ID 2. clicking on Validate with an _unsaved_ file with a valid ID gives the error message; perhaps less reasonable 3. clicking on Validate after saving a file with a valid ID does not give the error message; very reasonable!
