On Windows keyboards there is a key next to the right Ctrl, which, when pressed, should act like mouse right-click at the position of the caret. This is especially handy for clicking on things underlined by the on-the-fly spell-checker. It would be good if that key works in XXE... I don't know if it's possible with pure Java. (Did you considered using SWT in the future? Fells much more "native".)
