Hi, just a litte idea: if all entries in a submenu are displayed gray because they are currently inaccessible, the entry for the submenu itself should be displayed grey, too.
One example are the submenus "Column", "Row", and "Cell" of the Docbook menu. I just tried to find out in which situation the table commands are usable, and a more global "grey" signal would have helped me. - Markus
