That the point. It works when I use 'alt r' instead of 'mod r'.

No, I have not turned on the option "Use a unique instance of XMLmind 
XML Editor". I am sure I started xxe, my machine was shut down all 
night. It seems the 'mod r' is ignored as supposed on start-up, but it 
is accepted when reloading the configs.
