Sure, no problem. For all document types other than DITA (for which we use conref), the technology used to create modular documents is XInclude (fortunately, with XXE, the technology being used to create modular documents is almost transparent for the author). Please read this section of the tutorial: "Creating a modular document" http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/user/tutorial_modular_document.html (and especially its subsection "Extensive use of the 'Copy as Reference' command") to learn how to do that.
