We have reproduced the problem on Mac OS X 10.5.6 and didn't found a way to force the external input method window to popup (as this is the case on Windows and, in the past, also on Mac OS X). We'll try to implement ``On-the-spot Input'' in next release. This will be more comfortable to use and by doing this, we'll get rid of Operating System inconsistencies.
