One of the many helpful things about XXE is the way it protects me from
the complexities of the DITA Open Toolkit while still letting me see
that it's possible to create output in various formats. So far, so good
<g>

Now I'm hoping to get a little farther with conditional processing, and
when I check my references I read "To process the .ditaval file, you
must include a property in your Ant build file ..." Please tell me
there's an easier way to do this with XXE!
