I'm sorry but I cannot confirm that as we have no experience with this kind of tasks. I can just say that: [1] The DocBook XSLT stylesheets are designed to process multi-lingual XML files. Of course, you need to specify lang (DocBook 4) or xml:lang (DocBook 5) on certain elements in order to make it work. [2] The messages used by the DocBook XSLT stylesheets (e.g. Table of Contents, Chapter, etc) seem to be available in ja, ko, zh, zh-CN and zh-TW. [3] XMLmind XML Editor allows to very easily specify alternate default fonts for Apache FOP and RenderX XEP. Simply use "Options|Preferences", "Add-on|FOP" or "Add-on|XEP" section to do that. This is needed because the stock 14 PDF fonts do not support languages other than the Western ones. My recommendation is to give it a try by first downloading and installing Personal Edition (http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/download.shtml) and then getting and installing an evaluation key (http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/evaluate.html).
