This shortcut already exists but, like any shortcut which does not start with Ctrl (Command on the Mac), Shift or Alt, it cannot be displayed by the GUI. XMLmind XML Editor is running out of Ctrl (Command on the Mac) shortcuts, that's it has a large number of shortcuts which requires you to first press then relase the Esc (Escape) key. The shortcut you want is "Esc ->" (Escape Left-Arrow). You can use it right away, that is, no need to first select a node. Before extending the selection, "Esc ->" first starts by selecting the node. Then you need to press "Esc ->" repeatedly. Very handy! You should take a look at all shortcuts marked with 3 stars (***) in our Quick Reference Cards: http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/quickrefcard/quickrefcard-A4.pdf http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/quickrefcard/quickrefcard-Letter.pdf http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/quickrefcard/quickrefcard-Mac-A4.pdf http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/quickrefcard/quickrefcard-Mac-Letter.pdf See also "Being productive with XXE", http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/user/being_productive.html > I'd like to suggest adding a keyboard shortcut for this in the next > version; meanwhile, is there a way for me to customize the editor to set > this up? > XMLmind XML Editor *Professional* *Edition* allows to define keyboard shortcuts on the fly, without having to tweak any configuration file. Simply use menu item "Options|Customize Configuration|Add Keyboard Shortcut" for that.
