[1] As an author you are not supposed to mess with the CSS. You need to
report this problem, which is almost certainly not a big one, to the
person who wrote your TEI configuration.

[2] As explained in my previous email, it's almost impossible to help
you because we know nothing about TEI and because we didn't write the
TEI configuration for XMLmind XML Editor.

[3] My *guesses* are:

[a] May be your CSS styles the numbered elements shown in your
screenshot as  "display:block;", which is correct, but that one of their
ancestor elements has "display:inline;" (or has no "display" at all,
which means "inline").

Blocks inside inlines simply do not work in XMLmind XML Editor.

[b] May be your CSS styles the numbered elements shown in your
screenshot as "white-space:pre;" or "white-space:nowrap;". In such case,
this property is the culprit.

[c] May be these numbered elements contain non-breakable spaces and not
plain whitespace. If this is the case, the only way to force such long
lines to wrap is to select option "Wrap words wider than available
space" in Options|Preferences, View section.
