A ditaval filter is indeed a preprocessing option. However, we have
found that it was tedious to specify the same filter over and over for
each output format (XHTML, PDF, RTF, etc). By moving this feature to the
Map menu, we were able to apply the same filter to all output formats.
We were also able to apply the filter when validating the map (new
"Check map" feature).
We could have added a "Conditional Processing Profile" item to the Topic
menu as we did it to the Map menu. But we didn't because we have
considered that such menu item wasn't sufficiently useful.

By using XXE v4.8's "Options → Customize Configuration → Preprocessing
Options", you have customized your DITA Topic and/or Map configurations.
The filters you have specified have been recorded in your configuration
customization. They are still used by XXE v4.9.
We may want to get rid of your existing configuration customizations by
deleting directory XXE_user_preferences_dir/custom/
XXE user preferences directory is:
* $HOME/.xxe4/ on Linux.
* $HOME/Library/Application Support/XMLmind/XMLEditor4/ on the Mac.
* %APPDATA%\XMLmind\XMLEditor4\ on Windows 2000, XP, Vista.
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\john\Application
Data\XMLmind\XMLEditor4\ on Windows 2000 and XP.
C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\XMLmind\XMLEditor4\ on Windows Vista.
If you cannot see the "Application Data" directory using Microsoft
Windows File Manager, turn on Tools>Folder Options>View>File and
Folders>Show hidden files and folders.

Convertdoc is very different from ditac. It's just XXE without a GUI.
Therefore convertdoc picks up the filter last specified using
"Map|Conditional Processing Profile".
