I did never use this specialized, ancillary, dialog box before. That is much easier to use then the small value entry field in the dialog box.
According to the answer by Daniel Hong: overlaying and hiding the right-side bar would be an even better solution which would make the use of the dialog boxes redundant. That's why the small form above the attribute table has an "Edit" button displaying a specialized, ancillary, dialog box allowing to edit these specific attributes more comfortably.
