(My answer assumes that you are an experienced use of XXE. I mean, you
know that you have to choose the right Paste operation and the right
Paste location.)

XMLmind XML Editor does not allow to replace the root element of a
document. This limitation is not related to the operation you want to
perform (e.g. Paste) or to the replacement content or to DITA or to a
problem of duplicate ID.
