I'm sorry but we no longer answer questions about how to customize the
output of the "Convert Document" menu. See
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/support.html#xmleditor_support_policy

The answer to this kind of questions is found here:

DocBook XSL: The Complete Guide
http://www.sagehill.net/docbookxsl/

For example:

Page breaking

In the above chapter, you'll find:
---
The DocBook DTD does not contain any elements or attributes that control
page breaking.

I think that you should not have chosen the article template. Instead
you should have chosen the book template.

By default, a DocBook book is formatted in PDF just like you want.

Please compare:

XMLmind XML Editor - XHTML Support
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/xhtml/help.pdf

which is an DocBook article, to:

XMLmind XML Editor - Configuration and Deployment
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/configure/configure.pdf

which is a DocBook book.

I suggest that you convert your article document to a book document. The
quickest way to do that is to use a text editor. However, if you are not
sure to fully master DocBook, then use XMLmind XML Editor for that (e.g.
copy a section from the article then paste it to the book then promote
the section as a chapter (using the DocBook menu)).
