XMLmind XML Editor does not ``pretty-format'' the files it creates. However it can be configured to add indentation --that is, ignoreable whitespace-- in places where the DTD/Schema allows to do so. > > For example, XMLMind gives me this for a body, even with indenting and > max line length turned on: > >

This is a test.

This is a test.

This happens because the body element of XHTML5 may contain text. See http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/the-body-element.html#the-body-element . Therefore, XMLmind XML Editor may not indent the child elements of the body element. > > I would expect the ability to save this instead at the very least: > >
>
This is a test.
>
This is a test.
>
You can have the above formatting with XHTML DTDs/Schemas where the body element may not contain text. For example, with XHTML 1.0 Strict. --- PS: Please note that I'm not supposed to answer any of your questions, as this level of support is reserved to our customers.
