XMLmind XML Editor does not ``pretty-format'' the files it creates. 
However it can be configured to add indentation --that is, ignoreable 
whitespace-- in places where the DTD/Schema allows to do so.

This happens because the body element of XHTML5 may contain text. See 
http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/the-body-element.html#the-body-element . 
Therefore, XMLmind XML Editor may not indent the child elements of the 
body element.

You can have the above formatting with XHTML DTDs/Schemas where the body 
element may not contain text. For example, with XHTML 1.0 Strict.
