how can I wrap text in table columns
In DITA, DocBook, XHTML documents the text contained in a table cell is
``wrapped'' by default. Therefore, I'm not sure to have understood your
question.
so table will fit on page width in
case of PDF export?
If a table cell contain, say, a very long URL, turning on option "Wrap
words wider than available space" (Options|Preferences, View section;
see http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/viewOptions.html)
will have the effect to wrap such very long text lines.
However, this XMLmind XML Editor option has no influence whatsoever on
the PDF export.
The first thing you can do is to make sure that hyphenation is turned
on. This is done by passing the proper parameters to the XSLT
stylesheets that generate PDF. How to do this is explained here:
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/faq.html#custom_deliverables
(Search for "Simplest customization")
For example, the parameters for the DocBook XSL stylesheets are:
* hyphenate; see
http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/doc/fo/hyphenate.html
* hyphenate.verbatim; see
http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/doc/fo/hyphenate.verbatim.html
* hyphenate.verbatim.characters; see
http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/doc/fo/hyphenate.verbatim.characters.html
There are probably also quick and dirty tricks (zero-width space
character?) which may be used to instruct an XSL-FO processor generating
PDF (Apache FOP, RenderX XEP, etc) that a given very long line has
``fold points''. Unfortunately, I don't know these tricks.
