I am experiencing a problem with the WebHelp generated by XmlMind
(version 5.5.0).
I have tried to use the generated 'site' with JavaFX WebKit component
(using the Oracle WebViewBrowser demo available in NetBeans).
I would like to use the JavaFX browser component to implement help in a
JavaFX application as the old JavaHelp is not a good match for a JavaFX
application.

The old JavaHelp is not a good match for any application of any kind. It is barely better than no online help at all.

I get some quirks:

The behavior above (overlapping text) disappears as soon as I move the

if You wish, you may try to view the pages above at:

They work fine with other browsers, so the problem seems to be an
incompatibility with JavaFX WebKit.

Next release of XXE will embed an updated Web Help Compiler. See

XMLmind Web Help Compiler
http://www.xmlmind.com/whc.shtml
---
v1.2.0 (February 18, 2013)

* When an input file starts with <!DOCTYPE html> or has no DOCTYPE at all, the compiler now generates <meta charset="UTF-8"/> rather than <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>. This allows to better support Web Help containing XHTML5 pages.

* A MathML or SVG element embedded in an input XHTML page is now serialized in a way which is compatible with HTML parsers (the svg and math root elements now use a default namespace).

* Upgraded jQuery to v1.9.1, jQuery UI to v1.10.0, the jquery.cookie plug-in to v1.3.1.

Next release of XXE will also allow to generate Web Help containing *HTML5* pages out of a DITA document.

Hopefully these enhancements will fix the problems with JavaFX's WebKit. If this is not the case, then I'm afraid there is nothing we can do. I am sorry but we cannot afford to spend some time writing workarounds for what seems to be JavaFX's WebKit flaws.
