What I would like to do is to customize the list
of DocBook elements so that I don't need to scroll past link to get to
link(href). One of the things I really like about XMLMind is that the
keyboard shortcuts make it easy for me to write quickly. I want to
type the first few letters and get the element I need.

The Edit tool already supports that.

In order to select link(href), please proceed exactly as follows:

1) Press Ctrl-I or Ctrl-T depending on the operation you want to do.

This gives the keyboard focus to the Edit tool, which support autocompletion.

2) Press L.

3) Press Down_Arrow.

4) Press Down_Arrow again.

5) Press Enter.

Alternatively, you could do it like that:

1) Press Ctrl-I or Ctrl-T

2) Press L then I then N then K then (. It' sufficient to stop at "(".

(Alternatively, Press L then SPACE N then SPACE and finally (. Remember that SPACE means: autocomplete now.)

3) Press Enter.

Note that what's displayed by autocompletion-enabled text fields may be parametrized using Options|Preferences, Edit section, "Append mode" frame. More information in http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/editOptions.html

Can I remove elements from the catalog?

Sure. If you replace the stock DocBook 5 RELAX NG schema by one having fewer elements, then you are done. Everything in XMLmind XML Editor will keep working fine.

How to customize the DocBook 5 RELAX NG schema is out of the scope of this support. More information here:
