Why: 1) we didn't find this feature useful enough; 2) we try to remove
less useful features in order to ``make room'' for new ones.
Alternative: "View|Show Tags". See
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/viewMenu.html
I also miss an adequate easy selection feature. The "Show Tags" view is
rather obtrusive. Specially if table element tags are enabled.
That's right. We have implemented the Tags and the Source views purely
for commercial reasons. We were tired of loosing markets mainly because
we didn't have one or both of these features (which are not that useful
for an XML editor like XMLmind's).
Looking at what was available in past XXE versions, I would suggest the
following:
- Keep the current behavior of repeat Ctrl+LefClick to select successive
parent elements, and
- Show the tag name on the top-left corner of the visible part of any
explicit selection (in red).
The tag name is already clearly visible in the node path bar.
This combination could be more effective than other annoying
alternatives: The old feature of showing the tag name on hovering the
mouse cursor, or the current Show tag view, or having to move the mouse
to the "current path" bar.
The old active left margin was very useful, but it allowed only to
select block elements, not inline or empty ones.
Yes, that's right.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
