We got a bug report about our webhelp hitting an error in the Search
field when running Safari on Mac (Mavericks). Have you had other reports
of this?

I've seen recently this problem myself by browsing a webhelp on my Mac.

I've also seen the "Toggle Highlighting" button, which is next to the Search field, incorrectly positioned.

The user writes:

"In the new, searchable, on-line help when selecting the SEARCH tab the
Search Field doesn't open up beyond a single character (see attached
image). If you switch to the INDEX tab and then switch back to the
SEARCH tab THEN the Search Field opens up properly."

We were able to confirm the issue with the following details:

"Operating System: Mavericks v10.9.4
"Browser: Safari v7.0.5 (9537.77.4)
"The problem seems to manifest itself if you jump between the INDEX tab
and the SEARCH tab.
"NOTE: It does not seem to be occurring within Windows 8.1 (Explorer
v11.0.9600.16663)
"NOTE: It does not seem to be occurring within Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy
Salamander (FireFox v30.0)

To my knowledge, no problem with Google Chrome, nor with Opera.

To my knowledge, this bug is specific to Safari, so it could be a Safari bug.

Here's a link to the full bug report in our bug tracker, if interested.
I'm also attaching a screenshot, in case the screenshot file is not
visible on our bug report:

Thanks for any insights you may have on this.

We plan to release a major upgrade of XMLmind WebHelp Compiler in September.

This software component will be very quickly integrated into XMLmind DITA Converter and into XMLmind XSL Utility (September). It will take more time to integrate it in XMLmind XML Editor (October).

Each time we upgrade XMLmind WebHelp Compiler, we also upgrade (and test[*]) jQuery and jQuery UI. May be simply upgrading jQuery UI will fix this bug. If this is not the case, we'll *try* to find a workaround.

[*] But, I confess it, never on Safari.
