I'm sorry but I don't know how to fix this problem. I never seen this before and no other user has ever reported this issue.
If you have another computer, may be you could use it to give XMLmind XML Editor a try. I strongly suspect the problem to be completely specific to your computer (version of Windows -- XP 64-bit? which is not supported by us at all --, version of Java, fonts installed on it, etc).
