At least, not a question for you ... a colleague called me on Friday to ask if I had any ideas for handling a certain situation. Once we had worked out exactly what the situation was, I was able to say "Yes: start using XML Mind!" And only a few minutes afterwards, I was already able to send her a screenshot showing how Easy Profiling delivers just what she needs: she wants to maintain a single source file but generate output showing different product names and related small modifications.
I'm seeing her later this week to show her what I did. In the meantime, in case it's ever of any help, I'm happy to share the term I invented for what she needs: "horizontal versioning". This is (so to speak) at right-angles to sequential versioning of the sort a CMS will do. Oh, and I have a few colleagues asking me for advice and information after I gave another presentation on structured documentation. The combination of DITA and XXE looks like the answer to questions they've been struggling with for quite a while.
