Indeed. Provided there is a space after the "-".
Quoting Markdown Guide [1]:
«Markdown applications don’t agree on how to handle a missing space
between the number signs (|#|) and the heading name. For compatibility,
always put a space between the number signs and the heading name.»
So at the very least, I am not alone in performing this unbest practise ...
