of course it's a virus. Its name is Sobig.C and it spreads itself across the world since last weekend. It uses faked sender addresses, either something it finds on the infected machine, or one of its 52 hardcoded defaults.

You won't believe how many viruses I received from aleksey, none of which he sent himself :-)

My advice is: When you read mail, do it on Linux and use mutt or pine. That's the safest way.
