I've never encountered the mythical BUSY EVENT myself, always seemed to related to some particular configuration. Not an excuse, though.

S4 needs to be maintained. On the other hand, SQLite would need major work that nobody wants to do: nobody ever really did it yet (i.e. took it to the end with a proper fix, starting with schemas).

As I see it the project has nothing to loose when abandoning SQLite. XMMS2 has so many great concept, such a nice architecture, all rendered useless by the SQLite medialib.

That might be taking it a bit far :-)

Rumor has it even old XMMS could do fast searching on a mammoth playlist.

It could do string-matching on the text displayed in the playlist.
Not metadata, not semantic.

I'm for switching to S4 personally, and I think some of Coll2 belongs in S4 or at least on a close layer on top of S4.

It'd be nice to get nesciens and cippo talking.
