I've been seeing a lot of this lately. So far it's just been clients that reinvent xmms2-hotkey (but require gnome and therefore X and are severely limited), xmms2-notify, and XMMS2tray. In that order. It's so much better to help fix the problem in stuff than reinventing your own to solve the problem (assuming there is one) and introducing even more problems. Or at the very least note what your stuff does better than existing solutions, not say how much it sucks and what problems it has.
