It doesn't. anything not enabled by default becomes essentially unmaintained. Look at Xnest and dmx. They started being somewhat broken but quite easily fixable and then got worse. AFAICT, now both are at a point where it needs some serious time investment to fix them up again - delaying the point until they will get fixed even further. I venture that if we had kept them enabled most of it would have been fixed on the way (you may rightly point out that was me who disabled Xnest. doesn't mean I still think it's a good idea) It's bad enough that we don't (or can't) test everything. anything you throw out of the compiler tests is on a downhill slope.
