Since I did 1.3.4, I guess I am one of the said powers that are being.
I've cherry-picked this and a handful of other commits that seemed 1.3.5
appropriate to the 1.3-branch on git (see attached for full list - man
page fix, build fixes, and re-hiding a symbol unintentionally exposed in
1.3.4). I've deliberately not pulled the xml doc work (still a work
in progress), the permanent xcbification (only appropriate for a 1.4.0
release, and the whole reason we branched 1.3.x), and the XKB rework
(also seems more appropriate for 1.4.0 than 1.3.x).
If anyone wants to suggest any more fixes or quibble about content
for 1.3.5, please speak up soon, otherwise I'll push a release in a
day or two. (And if that one has problems, we can always make a 1.3.6.)

Fix use-after-free in _XReply on X errors.
_XReply would always call dequeue_pending_request on errors. When it
got an error for the current request, it would call dequeue, then break
out of the loop; then, if it had an error in the event queue, it would
compare it with the sequence number of the now-freed pending request.
_XReply already stored that sequence number in dpy->last_request_read
before freeing it, so look at that instead.
