just for reference and 'notepad' - seems someone else already got
affected by this bug...
problem is bit annoying as it's hard to use 'older' versions of
drivers, and they will be removed from i.e. gentoo's portage tree
soon as it happens with other older x releases...

fix. seems typo in previous fix. so fix the fix!
i will test asap, but looks obviously right.
p.s. - abi fixes are currently distributed with gentoo (the -r1 ebuild) -
in case someone looked for that patch
