Here's a few more last minute XDC2011 details / notes for those interested.
- For those looking to meet-up with other attendees on Sunday, again,
the name of the place is "Snickers" and I and some others will begin
showing up around 2:00PM and will likely be there for a few hours. The
location is 448 N State Street. It's about one block from the CTA Red
line train stop named "Grand" and is very easy to find. It's on the
corner, across the street from a "Rock Bottom Brewery", and has a green
awning on the front. There's 100+ different beers plus a full bar of
other drinks, decent prices, etc. Plus there's many other bars and
restaurants in this area for going to afterwards.

- The event begins at 9.00AM on Monday at IIT's McCormick Tribune Campus
Center (MTCC). Take either the CTA Green line to 35-Bronzeville-IIT or
the Red line to Sox-35th. The green line station is right next to the
MTCC itself while the Red line may run more frequently but is a longer
walk, but I think still should be easy enough to find. You can transfer
from the Red line to Green line at the Roosevelt station.

several X.Org developers meeting up at Snickers, a fairly traditional
and decent American "dive bar". The location is quite ideal (located

there's several other bars and restaurants within easy walking
distance to go after meeting up, a good selection of alcohol with
decent prices, friendly bartenders, and we should have nearly the
entire bar to ourselves.

If there's interest a Saturday meet-up, there might be a non-sponsored
gathering then too, as I'll already be showing some of the attendees
around the city that day.
== SOCIAL EVENT / DINNER ==
It doesn't look like there will be a sponsored dinner/gathering this
year, unfortunately, as the usual corporate sponsor doesn't have funds
available. However, on Tuesday during the afternoon talks there should
be free beer (just waiting on the venue to approve the alcohol
application form, etc) that's sponsored by Phoronix Media.
== VENUE ==
As a reminder, XDC2011 is being held at the ballroom at the McCormick
Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) at the Illinois Institute of Technology
(IIT). It's not to be confused with Chicago's McCormick Place
convention center. MTCC/IIT can be easily reached via Chicago's public
train system by taking either the Red or Green lines. The Green line
stops directly at MTCC or the Red line is a short walk away if getting
off at the Sox-35th exit.

informal meet-up is being figured out for Sunday afternoon at a pub
in the downtown area for those interested. More details should be
available later in the week. Likewise, on Saturday I'll already be
showing a few of the attendees around Chicago, but the exact plans
are unknown at the moment.

We don't require abstracts, camera ready papers, or long writeups.
All we require is a half hour to hour of talking (depending on what
sort
of slot you sign up for). You don't even have to do all the talking
yourself - discussion sessions are accepted as well as presentation.
Slides, demos or other visual aids are good, but also not required.
Topics should be somehow related to X, Mesa, DRI, Wayland, or other
usual suspects.
Students may want to consider this a free chance to get experience
in public speaking in a small friendly venue of people who already
have some understanding of the subject matter.
Attendees whose travel expenses are being subsidized by the X.Org
Foundation should also remember that providing conference content
is one of the best ways to show your appreciation for the chance
to attend our conference.
