not sure what's happening there. I created a virtual device with that event sequence and it seems to work just fine. xev sees button events, the cursor moves, etc. that's on git master, but I don't think there are any patches that should change that behaviour vs 1.12.2. afaict here it's all just fine, at least when it comes to button press events.
